Student Journey

Kongo / Palo Mayombe Student Path

This path organizes Kongo spiritual study and Palo Mayombe services in the correct order: orientation, registration, strong cleaning when needed, scratch, elemental presentation, advanced elemental bonds, and priesthood initiation when the student is truly called and prepared.

Why This Path Begins With Orientation

Palo Mayombe is not a general self-help practice or a casual spiritual aesthetic. It is a Kongo-rooted initiatory system carried through the diaspora, especially through Afro-Cuban houses and related Kongo-derived traditions.

The student should understand what Palo is, where it comes from, how it relates to Kongo natural forces and ancestral powers, and how it differs from Yoruba-centered Orisha and Ifa systems before seeking ceremony.

For the larger Pan-African framework, read Spiritual Jurisdiction and the Crowns of Kemet. It explains why Kongo/Palo belongs to the earth and elemental jurisdiction rather than being treated as the same kind of work as ancestor veneration, Orisha, or Ifa.

The Kongo / Palo Mayombe Student Journey

  1. Palo Mayombe Orientation Manual $21

Study the history, origins, Kongo worldview, relationship to Kemet, and differences from Yoruba spirituality before seeking initiation.

  2. Kongo Spiritual Registration $100

A gatekeeping reading that identifies whether a student has access to the Kongo spiritual path, which Mpungu or Kongo forces walk with them, and how far they should go.

  3. Kongo Spiritual Cleaning $70-$370+

A strong Kongo/Palo cleaning service for heavy spiritual pressure, dark entities, serious ancestral disturbance, and cases where ordinary cleansing is not enough.

  4. Palo Scratch / Rayamiento Base $752

The scratch, also called Rayamiento or the Malongo ceremony, is the initiatory entrance into Palo practice and a formal bond with a Kongo house and its spiritual current.

  5. Elemental Presentation $321

After the student is brought into Palo proper, they are presented to key elemental forces such as fire, water, earth, air, and, in some lineages, graveyard or ether currents.

  6. Advanced Elemental Initiation $227

An optional extension of elemental presentation in which the initiate makes a more direct pact or bond with specific elemental forces according to lineage, reading, and readiness.

  7. Congo Priesthood Initiation Roughly $2,100

The deeper Congo priesthood initiation path includes receiving the Nkisi or Ndanga and entering the rights and obligations of a properly ordained initiate.

After Elemental Presentation, the Path Divides

Advanced Elemental Initiation is not a required public step for everyone in the Kongo / Palo Mayombe student journey. It only becomes relevant after scratch and elemental presentation, and only when a specific elemental concentration is indicated.

Some scratched initiates move from elemental presentation toward Congo priesthood when priesthood is clearly marked, approved, and prepared for. Others are not marked for priesthood. For them, advanced elemental concentration may become the terminal level of the Kongo path.

In that case, the student may receive one or several elemental concentrations over time. These deepen the relationship with the elemental forces they are permitted to carry, and they compensate for the limitation without pretending that priesthood is open.

Registration Protects the Student

The Kongo Spiritual Registration is not a formality. It may confirm that the student has access to the path, or it may say no. It may direct the student toward a different lineage, a different house, or a different form of work entirely.

This protects the student from forcing themselves into a current that is not theirs, and it protects the house from initiating people outside their spiritual permission or readiness.

Kongo Spiritual Cleaning can appear in this chain before scratch, but it is also available outside the initiation path for people who need a particularly strong ancestral or spiritual cleaning.
