Rites of Passage and Life Transits
Rites of passage, also known as life transits, mark important developmental transition periods in a person’s stages of life. They generally celebrate external transit points and prepare people for their new roles. These rites are often accompanied by formal or informal information that helps orient the initiate to the new role. They are intended to cause a paradigm shift in the initiate and may stimulate revelation and components of psycho-spiritual maturity.
Kheper Mystic Maturity extends this definition to include rituals and ceremonies that help adults transition into new life roles along the path of adulthood, all the way into meaningful Eldership rather than “Oldership.” External transits include birth, puberty, marriage, having children, and death.
Eight Levels and Seven-Year Cycles
Kheper Mystic Maturity is an eight-level or layer system. Its structure moves through seven-year cycles. The eighth and final level corresponds with the second Saturn return at age 56: Winter Eldership.
What External Rites Do—and What Mystic Maturity Adds
External rites of passage celebrate or prepare people for external transit points. They provide space for the community to transmit its core values and confer the role responsibilities appropriate to the initiate’s stage of life. Those roles generally cannot be easily combined, learned, or performed retroactively.
Mystic Maturity works with expanded capacities and abilities that are cumulative. They are thought best activated at their ideal age, but can be activated later. These initiations act as a secondary psycho-spiritual puberty, activating dormant abilities and slowly expanding the being’s divine capacity over a lifetime.
Seven-Year Development and Gender-Archetype Activation
The internal transits of the Kheper maturity system are based around a seven-year physical and mental development process. This is combined with augmentation of core gender instinctual archetypes. Epigenetic gender-archetype activation is a key part of Mystic Maturity.
The underlying principle is that development, particularly mental and spiritual development, can continue in a pattern similar to the first puberty cycle every seven years when proper physical, mental, and spiritual nutrition and stimuli are provided. Like puberty, the changes are slow: this development is framed in years.
These Mystic Maturity initiations support positive epigenetic activation of greater mental, emotional, and spiritual facilities and potential.
Being Grown Up by the Num
Kheper Mystic Maturity is a systemized equivalent to the Kalahari !Kung, also known as the Sand People, “being grown up by the Num” maturity path: rising energy together with psychic, mental, and psychological maturity. The !Kung energy system is the most archaic Qigong energy system on the planet. The Mystic Maturity path is realizing and becoming god-ish by learning and flowing the universe through the powers and aspects of the elementals and ethers through the recipient.
These initiations are focused in the subtle body and causal body. Spiritual maturity is enhanced by energetic forces.
Slow, Safe Development
These initiations are more akin to spiritual braces, emphasizing slow, safe development compared with some of the faster empowerments found in many Eastern and ATR systems.
The focus is gaining a better connection to self in the good, the bad, the scary, and the ugly, and to others in those same aspects. One must find peace in self before they can be at peace with anyone else. Psycho-spiritual maturity involves not only a deepening of the spiritual self, but also a deepening of the psychological self.
Seth, Heru, and Internal Psycho-Spiritual Rulership
The ancient Kemetic understanding is depicted in the internal psycho-spiritual rulership battle of Seth, representing the darker or selfish animal instincts and drive, and Heru, representing the higher will and values. Only when both are properly integrated does the king—representing the person and community—flourish.
Psychological maturity is therefore important for becoming balanced, authentic, and whole human beings.
Place in the Nemes Crown Sequence
Kheper Mystic Maturity Age Set Initiations I is the first ascension path. It follows the meditation foundation and activation foundations, including Dynamo and Crystal Body. White Tantra follows; the Mene Akhu System, Stable Light, is the highest ascension path.
