Misa, also called a White Table or Mystic Seeing, is a mediumistic form of spiritual investigation. It does not rely on throwing bones or shells. Instead, the priests seek knowledge through spiritual sight, feeling, hearing, and disciplined shared discernment.
Two Forms of the Work
A collective White Table gathers a group. The messages that arise may concern people seated at the table, the spirits around them, or an issue shared by the group. When another participant has developed mediumistic ability, they may also receive or contribute a message within the held space.
An individual Misa focuses the investigation on one person, their condition, their direction, or the question that brought them to the table.
How the White Table Is Prepared
The table is covered with a white cloth; that visible preparation is why this collective form is called a White Table. Senior priests sit at the table and use the prepared setting as the shared place of communication and discernment.
The work is normally prepared with prayer, general cleansing, incense, and water. In some forms, a vessel or pot of water is placed beneath or near the person while the priests sit together in inquiry.
The visual language of the table follows the lineage and people holding it. A Lukumí or Santería table may include Christian symbolism and iconography. A Pan-African-centered table may instead carry ankhs or traditional wisdom texts such as the *Per-em-Heru*, *Lucumí* materials, or *Odù Ifá*. The table format adapts to the practitioners while preserving its central purpose: a disciplined, collective space for receiving and interpreting messages.

Priestly Structure and Pricing
A Misa is almost always conducted by two or more priests, because the table benefits from shared witnessing and corroboration. A particularly skilled seer may sometimes work alone when appropriate to the case.
