A Boon (gift or blessing) is based on ancestral recall of past knowledge, ability, or skill. It is the counterpoint to Ancestral Trauma. While ancestral trauma passes wounds down the line, ancestral boons pass gifts, talents, and exemplar capacities.
In the West, this is theorized to operate through epigenetic principles — similar to how beavers build dams and birds make nests without being taught. In the East, the belief is that the mechanism operates similarly to past-life recall: a spiritual memory process of an ongoing soul from lifetime to lifetime. In many traditional African systems, the ancestors are understood to be fully separate sentient spirits called back to provide information and support.
Basic boons augment fundamental human archetypes: universal patterns that are hard-wired in our DNA and collective unconscious. These ancestral archetypes represent amalgamations of human social attributes, instincts, and talents — the best exemplars in one's bloodline.
The standard boon archetypes include:
- The Communicator — for difficult communication and negotiation
- The Wizard/Craft Person — for learning, creation, and craft
- The Warrior/Protector — for tough and challenging times
- The Leader/Ruler — for authority and governance
- The Lover — for loving yourself or another
- The Wild Woman — for self-expression and creative force
- The Caregiver/Nurturer — for healing and support
- The Wise Woman — for wisdom, discernment, and guidance
- Custom Boon: A blessing called from a specific known ancestor for a specific need
We are the living repository of the best traits, talents, and attributes of all those who came before us — because we are here. Note: Dreams, intuitions, notions, and awakened talents are wonderful, but they must be acted on for the full benefit to be realized.
